Why two perspectives?

I'm not suggesting I have a split-personality, but by education and training I have two unique ways of looking at reality: from the perspective of a physicist and the perspective of a social scientist. I'm not claiming to be an accomplished physicist or social scientist at all, but having learned something of these two fields and having worked within these two fields, I've gained some insights that at least surprise me. I'm sharing them in the hopes that they help someone in a similar situation or considering it. More to come after I do some of the physics work I am paid to do . . .
